Urban frescoes features the photography of Bill Brimm

Born EmptyArt and Invention Gallery located in Five Points, East Nashville presents Urban Frescoes by photographer Bill Brimm. The main focus of this exhibition is images on walls within urban areas and their relationship to society. Graffiti, signage, color, texture and decay are integral parts of the palette that creates these revealing photographs. This body of work was shot over the last three years in Peru, Mexico, Chicago and Nashville.

Also on display is furniture and lamps designed and fabricated by Bill. Urban form and function made of steel, concrete, glass and found objects complement the theme of the show.

Bill Brimm resides in Nashville, Tennessee and is co-owner of Emmanuel Stained Glass Studio, Inc. Aside from his day job he designs and fabricates furniture and lamps of steel, glass, concrete and found objects at his home studio. Bill has been into photography since 1974 shooting with 35mm until switching to digital in 2003. Among his many artistic endeavors, he is the author of Peru in Focus, a photographic essay of his trip to Peru.

Bill graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with an art degree in 1977. While there he studied painting, photography and a variety of other mediums. After graduation he moved to California where he studied the techniques of stained glass. His southern roots pulled him back to Tennessee where he began a career in stained glass fabrication and restoration.

An active member of the Nashville arts community, Bill has exhibited his work in many galleries and invitational exhibitions. His work has also been shown in Chicago and Cincinnati . In 2002 he was a featured artist on HGTV, “Our Place”, his home/studio was shown on HGTV, “Dream Builders” in 2003 and his stained glass work was used in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in 2005.
